After college, I was lucky enough to land a good job just a few hours from my home. After the move, I suffered a bad fall down the staircase of my new apartment building that left me with several broken bones. I cursed myself for being so "clumsy," and I had to quit my new job while I healed. My parents helped me financially for a while, or I would have been out on the street. Years later, I learned that it was not my fault! My apartment steps were icy, and it was the apartment owner's job to keep the steps safe. It is too late to take them to court now because I didn't save any evidence of the event. Instead, I want to help others understand the importance of personal injury law.
